Set MySelf Free!

October 28, 2009

To love with all the imperfections, is to be real.  To become real and not an object is to allow all the imperfections to be seen.  Give back the anxiety and not react to the fear.  To stay grounded and sure of who I am and why I am here.  To be free of the guilt and protection.  I Am Living.  I Am free.  Others may not like it, but that only gives me the information that they are not free themselves.  In that light, I really don’t want to hang with them anyway!  I am at peace knowing I Am alive.  Namaste’

Understanding the Food and Body Connection

October 13, 2009

Food and Body is not separate from thoughts and beliefs.

I have often met people who try to separate theses connection.  I hear it in their everyday speech, “If I only ate the right foods, then I would have the perfect body”, or if I could eliminate my sweet tooth then I could lose 10 pounds”.  First of all, it is never just one thing, food, or issue that gives or doesn’t give people their ideal body shape.

Holistic Nutrition is about treating the whole person.  There are Primary Foods and Secondary Foods.  Secondary foods are the foods we eat.  Primary foods are the things in our life that feed our Soul, our passions.

Primary foods can be broken down into four main categories; Relationships, Career, Spirituality, and Fitness.  The more primary food we have in our lives, the more the secondary food will support it and if there is an weight issue, the less the amount of secondary food we will need.  Love is the most powerful, healing vibration there is.  I am sure most of you have experienced the love diet, where you meet someone and of a sudden you are down 10 pounds!  Finding our passions is our birthright; it is what makes us unique.  The day I rekindled my childhood passion and started dancing again, was the day I stopped exercising and started loving life.  It was no longer something I “had” to do; I couldn’t wait to get there!  My mindset switched from a negative fear-based, (If I don’t do this then I am going to be fat”) vibration to a positive, love-based, (“I can’t wait to do this”) vibration!

Which Primary Food category needs more passion and vibration in your life?

Spiritual Growth

October 12, 2009

Most spiritual paths are pretty much the same in the fact that there is a personal self and a Higher Self to work towards.  In hatha yoga, the warrior postures give us the opportunity to feel this.  To be a spiritual warrior means to have the courage, endurance, strength, and compassion to fight the fight within.   Our personal issues do not define who we are.  When I define myself by my issues I am placing a limitation on my Self and using it as an excuse to not go beyond.  It is a matter of choice to go beyond and feel the power of our Higher Self.  If I am unhappy with an area in my life, it is my responsibility to change this.  No one can save me but Me.  I can gather all the intellectual information I can through books, courses, and therapy, but at the end of the day, the shift, the alchemy and transformation has happen within me.  This is where compassion and love for mySelf come in.  Nurturing mySelf like I would a small child.

Unconditional Love and Acceptence

September 28, 2009

What would it mean for me to call a ceasefire with myself?

To love myself, no matter what

To love myself, with no conditions.

To love myself without the word “If” or “when” coming first

Who would have thought such little words could have such HUGE content.

Once again, “Life here on the earth plane is a paradox”!

Today I call a ceasefire

On the war with myself

There will be no more “ifs” or “when’s”

Only love and compassion

Now and Forever

I surrender to my Higher Self, as I ask for help

This is a big one!

The Pandoras Box of Health

September 3, 2009

The best part of improving your health is that, like Pandora’s Box, once you open it there is NO going back.  As you learn new habits and your body gets introduced to better and more powerful foods, you will no longer crave “junk food”.  It is no longer satisfying, and your body will actually reject the same junk it once longed for every day.

Unlike many of the cycles of life which seem to be vicious and unfair, this is a cycle that continuously rewards you.  The healthier you eat, the better you feel, so you will WANT to CONTINUE eating healthy foods so you WILL CONTINUE feeling EVEN BETTER.

Naturally, as with all transformations, there are regressions.  I did not say it would be easy kicking those fast food habits.  But with myself and the people I have worked with, I have found that each time you regress, you end up asking yourself “Why am I here again?” and charge forward with more commitment, trust, and determination.

And even though processes are slow, and the thought of your total transformation taking up to 2 years seems like too much time – think of how long ago your bad habits developed and how quickly the time has gone by.  For some people, an event turned their life sour, and though it seems like  blink in time, it’s actually been 5, 10 or 15 years.  If you devote the time now, that could be 5, 10 or 15 years of wonderfully healthy and prosperous years.

Your health is THE MOST IMPORTANT INVESTMENT in your life.  Otherwise, every other aspect of your life is compensated.

Think about it.

Separation

August 20, 2009

Getting separate from my fears.  I had to allow myself to see how afraid I was….of absolutely everything!  Going through this dark, dark place where the fear was so great I feel as though I don not remember some parts of the experience.  Everything was crashing in, nothing was real and wow was I dependent on this.  This tight and confining experience.  The tight energy of the ego mind.  So tight, tight, tight and then…..what emerged was calmness.  Calmness and a new sense of reality.  It is all just a game here.  If I do this..I get this result.  If I do that.. I get a different result.  I will reap what I sow and sow what I reap.  I can feel I am in this world but not of it.  I have feelings but they are not me.  I have thoughts but they are not me either.  I have actions but they are not me either.  Nothing is attached or defining.  It is all just sport.  Going through, not around my feelings and obsessions.  I went through and out the other side.  I was addicted, truely addicted to the fear, the choas, and the drama…as if my life depended on it.  I couldn’t breathe, like a shot in the stomach that took my breathe.  That moment of utmost awareness of being inside the fear of my ego.  I saw it, I felt it, it was so clear.  Nothing was real, and everything was fake.  It really doesn’t matter.  All the anger, the hurt, and the pain of the past.  I was holding on so tightly…means nothing.  The fear which I have means nothing.  Nothing defines who I am……except Vibration!  And that vibration is part of something so very Large!

To place myself within this vibration.  To get separate from the ego, the physical, the thinking, only to join something of light and vibration.  To feel this in the body, having it resonate in every cell.  So safe, so powerful and so loved.  Just so so lucky.  Everything else, material is wonderful, great and comfortable but that is about it.  This was magical and fulfilling beyond measure.  This knowingness, this secret is just so funny.  So funny, it makes me laugh out loud followed by the warmth of gratitude which spreads throughout my body.  I now get to choose my experience! LUCKY ME!! Thank you God for sharing!!

Why positive affirmations alone don’t work

June 30, 2009

When facing obstacles, friends and mentors often encourage visualizations and positive affirmations.  “See yourself achieving ____.  Every morning look in the mirror and say ‘today I will achieve_____’ because I am strong, able, and determined.”  While I completely agree that positive affirmations are important, you will become very disheartened when you don’t succeed.  The problem is this…

The traditional affirmation process is as follows: thoughts create feelings, feelings create actions, actions create habits, habits create beliefs, belief systems create human identities, and your human identities create your reality.  But following the affirmation alone does not successfully create a positive change in your life.  You need to start with a mentally clean slate, one that sees the whole truth, as it is, without judgment, regret, or shame first.  Only then can you learn and build upon experiences to create permanent positive change in your life!

Another major set back that people face when trying to create the life they want to live is IGNORING the negative and only focusing on the positives, thinking that the negative will eventually dissipate.  We need to realize and learn that it is from the painful past and negative experiences that we learn the most about ourselves, and therefore learn how to understand how we operate as an individual, so we can move forward stronger, smarter and prepared for the next challenge we encounter in life.  If you believe that by purely focusing on the positive and ignoring the negative you will achieve your goals, then no matter how much effort you put forth, you are only passively working toward your goal.

I hope this makes sense to you, and that you have new motivation and a clearer vision of how you can successfully reach your goals – BECASUE YOU ABSOLUTELY CAN!

What is Self-Mastery anyway?

June 30, 2009

I get this question often, and want to take a moment to help demystify this term and clear up common misconceptions.

A definition:  A Self-Mastered person has mastered his or her Ego-mind to such a degree that the mind acts as a servant, granting the individual empowerment to actualize his or her own divine potential.  Self mastery is not about perfectionism; instead, your quest is to be the most perfect you that you can be.  What does self mastery mean then?  The SELF is the part of you that is eternal and immortal.  Many often identify this as their “spirit”.  A MASTER is someone who creates masterpieces by breaking it down to smaller parts and perfecting each one individually until the whole is complete.

My Insight:  To the vast majority, the topic of spirituality and self-mastery are hocus pocus, something that people with nothing better to do created to pass the time and condescendingly differentiate themselves from the rest.  This couldn’t be further from the truth because the very essence of self-mastery is learning to accept one’s flaws and how to connect and be more understanding of other people.  The negativity comes from reality that this process is scary, painful, humbling and long!  But as we all know, nothing worth having is gained easily.

The difference between Enlightenment and EMPOWERMENT

May 26, 2009

There is a major difference between learning the TRUTH and living the TRUTH.  Thoughts are never as powerful as actions.

I spent 12 years of my life reading books and taking classes on spirituality, self-help, yoga, taoism, chinese medicine, chakras, the mind-body connection, meditation, healing … the list goes on and on, to achieve self-mastery.  The problem was that I was merely gathering information and becoming a master at knowing thoeries, rather than putting them to use.  I missed the point.  With each new wisdom and insight I attained, I needed to put it to practice in my everyday life in order to actually reap the benefits of the lessons I read.   It’s unfortunate and disheartening for people, like me, who don’t realize the difference between enlightmentment and empowerment.
